How To Find The Best
Internet Affiliate Marketing Program
For Your Online Home Business

The best way to find a really good internet affiliate marketing program is to start with the internet. It does take some time to find merchants who have products to support your affiliate online home business, but the time spent up front will pay you dividends in the long run.

Internet Marketing Affiliate Program If you have a product you want to promote, then the first place to start is the merchant’s website to see if they have an affiliate program.

Look for ‘Affiliate Program’, ‘Affiliate Partners’, or ‘Referral Program or Partners’. Some sites have them down at the bottom, some have them at the top and some are buried under ‘About’ pages or ‘Customer Service’.

Research Your Affiliate Partner

Research your affiliate partner before signing up with them. Not all affiliate companies, or their internet affiliate marketing programs, are created equal.

If the signup process is difficult, or not working, this is probably a good indication of their payment process, or how they are to work with.

How much information about the affiliate program is on their website? Almost all merchants have an entire page dedicated to their internet affiliate marketing program with terms, rates, and information. If the one you’re looking at has next to no information, or none at all, take a second look, or move on.

Here are a few ways begin gathering information:

  1. Blogs and forums. While these are a good place to start, they may be a little jaded in their perception so take the information with a grain of salt. You can’t make everyone happy, and forums are where people who like to complain are going to go.
  2. Check online with the search engines to see if you can find additional information by typing in one, or more of the following:
    • Name of Merchant + Scam
    • Name of Merchant + Affiliate Commission + Problem
    • Name of Merchant + Affiliate Marketers + Complaints

  3. Check affiliate program review sites. These are free.
  4. Don’t forget to check the BBB-Better Business Bureau (United States & Canada) to see if the company has had any complaints with affiliate payouts/commissions.
  5. If the company you’re considering isn’t one of the “big names”, you may want to send them an email. If you haven’t heard back within 24 hours, send them another one. If you haven’t heard back within 48 hours, move on to the next choice. If they aren’t responsive to your email inquiries, chances are they aren’t going to be great payers. It’s best to find one that is responsive, those are the companies you want to promote on your online home business website.
  6. Be sure to read the Merchant’s Affiliate Agreement. I know, that’s a lot of legalese, but, you want to make sure you understand what it says before you start promoting their products. Some merchants won’t allow banners or PPC advertising. And, more importantly, you want to know when you’re getting paid. Most merchants have a minimum payout between $25 and $100. Which means that you’re not going to receive any money until you reach that threshold.
  7. The cookie life. Another important factor. If the merchant only has a 30-day cookie and it takes 45 days before your customer makes a purchase, you’re losing money. The longer the cookie length, the better for you.

Remember, You Are Associated With
Your Affiliate Partner

Something to consider – whatever product(s) you promote in your online home business, or internet affiliate marketing program you choose; in your customers eyes, you are linked to that product, or service.

Internet Marketing Affiliate Program If the merchant turns out to be less than a great company, it’s your reputation on the line, as well as your online home business. Do your due diligence when researching an affiliate merchant.

Have you purchased anything from this merchant? How was the experience? Look at your merchant partnerships through the eyes of your customers.

Also, if the merchant is dishonest, chances are, your customers will think the same of you. However, if your customers have a great experience with your merchant, they’ll think the same about you.

Researching Affiliate Partners Is
The Key To Your Success

You can also use Affiliate Marketing Networks to research an internet affiliate marketing program. If a merchant has signed up with an affiliate network, they have agreed to the networks’ terms and agreements so you can be pretty sure their program is solid. Plus, you can find other merchants, or products you may not have thought of that will enhance your online home business.

So, while researching internet affiliate marketing programs can be a bit time consuming, it’s well worth the effort; this is your livelihood on the line here. Your affiliate partners reflect on you, as much as you do on them, so take the time needed to make good affiliate partnering decisions. Search online until you find just the right match for you, and your online home business.
